Documents

We are preparing three kinds of documentation.

Manuals that explain the structure of the database and how it was assembled. We anticipate two versions of most manuals, a long and technical in-house version and a shorter version that is more accessible to the public.

Documentation of the context in which the census is taken from newspapers, government records, contemporary political debate and archival sources. This documentation help us to understand better the unique features of this census and the integrity of the data.

A bibliography of pubished research about the 1891 census or illustrating use of the manuscrpt data for systematic research. The list is intended to be illustrative rather than comprehensive.
